When Irelands Eye Knitwear started out, it was a family business and that’s even more, true to date. No less than a grandfather, father, mother, three brothers, two sisters and eight grandchildren have been involved with the Irelands Eye Knitwear company.
Over the course of the past 40 years the Dublin Family has worked tirelessly to develop the company and its leading international Knitwear Brand and many members of the workforce have been with the company over 20 years. It’s fair to say that knitwear is in their blood. Some of their earliest memories are of their grandfather knitting chunky sweaters in the garage of the family home in Dublin with his inspiration coming from the need to wrap up against the elements of the coastal winds whipping Irelands Eye and the nearby fishing village of Howth where the fishermen bring their catch ashore. Like many other family businesses, they started small and grew slowly but surely. What is a Tilley Hat

Where did the Tilley Hat Originate?
Some years ago a gentleman named Alex Tilley came across one of the loves of his life: a homebuilt, 30′-long sailboat which he bought and renamed Karmananda. He fixed her up over several years. In the winter, when he couldn’t work in the yard, he varnished her parts down in the basement. Coat after coat of varnish. and he even had her anchor chromed! In time, she became more beautiful and at last was finished.
But there was still something missing. Alex Tilley couldn’t find a cotton sailing hat in keeping with the quality of his lovely sloop. Sailors need hats and there wasn’t a good-enough one anywhere. Realizing that others besides himself needed one too, he decided, in January 1980, to oversee the making of a proper one. Three months later his family had prototypes to test on a sailing charter in Belize, and a couple of months after that they had succeeded in making some that they could attach the Tilley name to. By and by they were providing Tilley Hats to people who would drive to their home in suburban Toronto. He also went on to produce the ‘double bum’ shorts however they at first were unfortunately not anywhere as near as popular as the Tilley Hats.
By the summer of 1983, two things were apparent: 1: to his surprise and delight, he’d come to realize that the Hat and Shorts were actually the best of their type in the world; 2: he’d had enough; people just didn’t seem to want the Shorts so it was time to drop them. Alex Tilley would just stick to the Hats, still selling them mostly from a neighbour’s home, and at boat shows. Everything with our name on it is made in Canada. Yes, that’s hundreds of thousands of Hats, and shirts, and underwear…

Having all the original features of being Handcrafted in France with high quality Gomma Plus natural rubber and the result of the combination of our skills in rubber technology and our experience in hiking. The Aigle Parcours 2 Iso is also a hunting boot designed with a hiking concept sole and a polyester knit, sanitized and treated, rot-proof, washable and fast-drying lining. They have Dual composite Actigrip rubber and are resistant to abrasions and heat. The Aigle Parcours 2 Iso have excellent grip around the ankle giving perfect stability and self-cleaning soles.
Aigle’s Gomma Plus upper material is a mixture based on flexible rubber. It is designed to stand up for many years against the conditions associated with being outdoors, including liquid manure and the ozone. It is also resistant to the ageing process linked to long periods of storage. The Softex non-woven polyamide lining is a great absorber of perspiration and is fast drying to leave a comfortable, pleasant feel. The lining is also sanitized leaving a rot-proof finish. this treatment remains in place even after washing.
On top of these original features The Parcours 2 Iso also have 4.5mm of Neoprene lining inside, plus 6mm of insulating felt on the insole. Neoprene is the best insulating material known of today, and is commonly used in diving suits.
